Illegal raves could cause "significant community disruption and damage", police said

Three people have been arrested after police disrupted what they described as an illegal rave involving a crowd of hundreds at a farm building.

Police were called in the early hours to Litlington, in south Cambridgeshire, after reports that more than 200 people were there.

Dispersal powers were used to prevent further people entering the area and music equipment as well as vehicles were seized.

Police said the trio were apprehended on suspicion of drug offences and remained in custody.

Det Supt Denise Harper said illegal raves could cause "significant community disruption and damage".

"They will not be tolerated and, where appropriate, action will be taken," she added.

A 24-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, both from Oswestry in Shropshire, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

An 18-year-old man from Dunstable, Bedfordshire, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug, failing to stop and driving without a licence or insurance.
