A free water play area has reopened for the summer season.

The Splashpad, Coronation Park, Jersey, is open between 10:00 and 18:00 BST each day until Wednesday, 30 September.

The return of the Splashpad coincides with work to add sand dunes, a cycling pump track and a nature play area to the next-door Coronation Park Playing Fields, which is due to be completed this summer.

All children should be supervised by a responsible adult, authorities said, as no lifeguard is employed at the site.

The government, which is responsible for the free facility, said it would be necessary at various times throughout the season to shut the water feature off for about 15 minutes, for essential maintenance and cleaning.

Authorities said the site would also need to close for two days at some point in the middle of the season, for a deep clean.

They said that this would take place during the week, with a weeks' notice, and they would aim to schedule the planned closure during a period of wet weather.

Officials said there were toilet facilities and a baby changing area available in the nearby playground.
