Military crews praised for role in new Jack Ryan film
RAF MildenhallRAF Mildenhall crews have been praised by their commander for their efforts in a new Hollywood film.
Servicemen and women, part of the 100th Air Refuelling Wing based in Suffolk, served as key advisors and extras in Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War.
The film follows Jack Ryan, played by John Krasinski, who is thrust back into a world of espionage with scenes shot at the airbase.
Col Steven Byrum, commander of the wing, expressed his pride in those that participated in the film.
RAF MildenhallThose involved were given an advanced screening of the film at the base on Monday.
"Our airmen have been working hard, and this screening was a well-deserved treat for them," Byrum said.
"Whether they are executing our 'Fuel the Fight' mission over Europe or demonstrating the solemn honour of our traditions on a film set, these airmen operate with unparalleled professionalism.
"This was an opportunity to display the hard work and character of the individuals who ensure this base is a hardened, resilient platform, ready for any call."

It reflected a real-world ritual, something that film director Andrew Bernstein said was important to highlight.
"The more real military and CIA personnel we can include, the more authenticity it adds," he said.
"We really try to honour the service of these people. Being at Mildenhall lets us see the aircraft, the people - it makes everything more believable, bigger, and more exciting.
"We take that very seriously."
