The wife of a competitor who died in a crash during qualifying for the Isle of Man TT races has asked those knew him to share stories of him to keep his "memory alive for our children".

Daniel Ingham, from Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, was killed in the crash at Doran's Bend on the first lap of the third qualifying session on Wednesday evening.

The 33-year-old's wife, Helayna Ingham, said their son Joey and daughter Phoebe were worried about "forgetting their daddy as they grow older".

She said creating a memory book would allow them to "read all about the incredible person and amazing dad he was through the eyes of the people who knew and loved him" as they grew up.

In a post social media, she thanked people for "all the love, support, and kind messages since the heartbreaking news about our amazing Daniel Ingham".

She said their son had come up with the "lovely idea" of creating a memory book about him.

"We would love for anyone who knew Dan to send in a funny memory, a story about how you met him, a favourite moment, or something special you shared with him," she said.

"If you can add a photo that would be great."

Ingham was a regular competitor in the Manx Grand Prix before moving the Isle of Man TT races in 2026

Although Ingham was competing as a newcomer at the 2026 Isle of Man TT races when the crash happened, he was no stranger to the racing on the Mountain Course.

A seasoned competitor in the Manx Grand Prix (MGP), run in August each year on the same 37.7-mile (60km) stretch of closed public roads, he made his debut in that event in 2016.

After recording several podium finishes, it was in 2024 that he took the most coveted trophy at the MGP – securing victory in the Senior race.

The organisers of that event, the Manx Motor Cycle Club, said they were "devastated to learn of the tragic loss" of Ingham, who was "one of our own".

In a tribute they said he had "become a huge part of the Manx Grand Prix family" and had "earned enormous respect throughout the paddock for his determination, professionalism and love of road racing".

"Dan was admired not only for his talent on track, but also for the person he was away from racing, friendly, humble and deeply respected by competitors, officials, marshals and supporters alike," they continued.

Passing their "heartfelt condolences" to his wife and children, along with his wider family, friends and team, they said: "His loss will be felt across the entire road racing community and especially amongst all those connected with the Manx Grand Prix."

They added that he would "never be forgotten".
