A 10-year-old boy is living his very own Del Boy dream after his parents surprised him with a 1975 Reliant Super Robin.

Toby, from west Oxfordshire, has always been infatuated with the iconic three-wheeler - even making his own Lego model of the car.

After spotting a turquoise Reliant up for auction earlier this year, his dad Steve secretly purchased the classic British car that was made famous by the BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses.

"Most of my friends want Bugattis, Ferraris and Lamborghinis as their dream car - and this is mine," Toby said.

"I just think it's really unique and they just look good," he said.

"It's priceless, it's never being sold - I'm going to hand it down my generations."

The iconic yellow Reliant in Only Fools and Horses was a Regal, not a Robin

The Reliant Robin was first produced in the early 1970s.

Many associate Reliants with the Del Boy and Rodney comedy show, but the famous three-wheeled yellow Trotters Independent Trading van was actually a Reliant Regal.

But for Toby, his love of the cars came from a Top Gear episode in which Jeremy Clarkson repeatedly rolled the three-wheeler.

Earlier this year, classic car enthusiast Steve spotted a 1975 Reliant Super Robin up for auction and knowing his son's enthusiasm for the cars placed a bid.

Toby said his 1975 Reliant Super Robin was "priceless"

He secretly transported it to their home where he surprised Toby with it.

"He opened the doors, I saw that it was a Reliant Robin and I absolutely went crazy," Toby said.

"I love it - he is the best dad in the world."

Steve said: "He [Toby] knows everything about this car and his way around it. Eventually it will be here for him to drive."

The moment Toby was surprised with his new Reliant Robin will be shown on the U&Yesterday Bangers & Cash series at 20:00 BST on Thursday.
