Man who died in crash had 'sparkle in his eye'
Wiltshire PoliceThe family of a man who died after a collision involving a motorbike and a car have paid tribute to him, saying he "always had a sparkle in his eye".
David Oliver, 60, from Marlborough in Wiltshire, died in Chiseldon on 11 August after his Triumph Scrambler was involved in a collision with a black Volvo V60 at the junction between Draycott Road and The Ridgeway.
Wiltshire Police said the driver, a 24-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, causing death by careless driving while under the influence and possession of an offensive weapon. He has since been released on bail.
Officers have asked anyone who witnessed the crash or may have dashcam footage to come forward.
The family of Oliver, a former tree surgeon, added: "We are sincerely grateful to everyone who has supported us during this difficult time and to those who provided David with immediate care during the incident
"David always had a sparkle in his eye and a remarkable ability to find humour, even in the gloomiest of situations.
"He was a kind man whose sense of adventure and bravery will forever be remembered.
"David loved his family dearly and found great joy in the companionship of his dogs.
"The sense of loss we feel is difficult to put into words. His absence is deeply felt, and he will be missed by so many people."
