New £11m entertainment complex to create 80 jobs

An £11m entertainment complex featuring bowling lanes, laser tag and virtual reality attractions is preparing to open.

Mega City, a new 55,000 sq ft leisure venue on Slough High Street, is expected by its founders to create more than 80 jobs.

The complex, on the former Wilko site, will also include karaoke rooms, arcade machines and augmented reality games.

Its founders said they hoped the venue would help bring more footfall and energy back into the town centre.

Mega City is due to open in June and will span three floors and two mezzanine levels.

The venue will feature 10 bowling lanes, more than 130 arcade machines and activities including batting cages, pool tables and augmented reality darts and clay pigeon shooting.

Food and drink facilities, including a restaurant, desserts bar and cocktail bar, will also form part of the complex.

The entertainment venue was created by siblings Jeet, Mandeep and Luke Grewal, whose family runs Airport Bowl in Slough.

Jeet Grewal, co-founder of Mega City, said: "We want Mega City to become part of the fabric of the town, helping bring more energy and footfall into the centre while giving local residents a destination they can feel proud of.

"Slough is incredibly diverse, vibrant and now well-connected through the Elizabeth Line, and we saw a real opportunity to create a large-scale leisure space that reflects that spirit."

The company said the project would create jobs across hospitality, operations and guest services, and that it hoped to work with local suppliers, schools and colleges.

Slough Borough Council and Slough Chamber of Commerce have been approached for comment.
