Children's hospital therapy unit gets makeover
Humber Health PartnershipA hospital therapy centre for children has been given a makeover.
The unit at Hull Royal Infirmary provides physiotherapy and rehabilitation for young people with disabilities, or who are recovering from injuries.
It has now been revamped with a new sensory room and an expanded gym area, as well as improved staff facilities.
The work has been partly paid for by the hospital's WISHH charity.
Nicky Gilchrist, from the NHS Humber Health Partnership, said: "Our staff work really hard to deliver the best care they can for children and young people but, in recent years, the paediatric environment in which they were delivering that care was starting to let them down.
"The service had really outgrown the space it was in, and it wasn't always affording each family the privacy and dignity they deserve."
Local companies have donated money and toys and a brightly coloured mural featuring animals, balloons and a rainbow has been recreated in the new gym space.
Other improvements include a new reception space and a pram parking area.
