Two men have been jailed after police say they seriously injured a man by shooting him in a car in Wolverhampton.

Officers were called to reports of a car hitting another vehicle in Westbourne Road at about 18:30 GMT on 18 December and found the driver, in his 30s, had suffered a bullet wound to his leg.

Ethan Edwards, 22, of Upper Villiers Street and Ilir Hoxha, 23, of no fixed address, were arrested in January and remanded in custody until the sentencing at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

Edwards and Hoxha were jailed for more than 11 years after both admitted wounding with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

West Midlands Police said two men went to an alleyway near to where the crash later happened, with one of them getting into the victim's car when it was parked outside a shop.

A shot was fired and the man left. The victim drove a short distance and hit another vehicle before police were called.

He was taken to hospital and had since been recovering from his injuries, the force added.

Edwards was jailed for 11 years and two months and Hoxha 12 years and 11 months at the court on 1 May.
