Man accused of murdering musician in Inverness

Police were called to Inverness' Milton of Leys area last Thursday

A man has appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court charged with murder following the death of a man in the Milton of Leys area of the city last week.

Waldemar Jaronski, 52, of no fixed abode, made no plea and was remanded in custody.

The emergency services found the body of 32-year-old musician Iain Gordon Macfarlane at a property in Strathspey Place on Thursday morning.

Police have been carrying out extra patrols in the Milton of Leys area to provide reassurance.

In a statement, Mr Macfarlane's family said: "We are devastated by the death of Iain. We would like to thank the community for their support and kind tributes to him.

"It has brought us comfort at this difficult time. We ask for privacy as we continue to come to terms with what has happened."
