Man arrested on suspicion of rape released on bail
GoogleA man arrested in connection with the rape and assault of a woman has been released on conditional bail.
A woman reported being punched and raped by a man in the North Street area of Wellington, Somerset, at about 02:20 BST on Friday, before he left in a car.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged. She is being supported by specialist officers.
A man, in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of rape in Sussex on Friday night but has now been released on bail while investigations continue, police said.
Witnesses have brought CCTV footage of the suspected car, a white Volkswagen Golf, to police.
Officers are still asking people to continue to look at any footage they might have of Waterloo Road, North Street, High Street, Fore Street, or Taunton Road between 01:00 and 2:30 BST on Friday.
