First pictures of This City Is Ours new series released

First pictures of the second series of Liverpool-set drama This City Is Ours have been revealed.

The series, which follows the fortunes of an organised crime family called the Kavanaghs, is filmed in across the city region is set to return on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this autumn.

Liverpool actor James Nelson-Joyce returns as leading gang member Michael Kavanagh, alongside Hannah Onslow as his partner Diana Williams.

The award-winning drama was created and written by producer Stephen Butchard who said he wanted to capture the vibrancy of his native city.

The first series received BAFTA nominations for Best Drama and Leading Actor (James Nelson-Joyce) and has attracted an average of 6.1m viewers to date.

Nelson-Joyce won the Best Breakthrough Talent Award at the RTS North West Awards 2025.

The second series has seen filming take place across Liverpool including The Old School House pub and restaurant on Lark Lane, The White Hart pub on Hope Street, The Vines pub on Lime Street as well as locations in Heswall, Wirral.

Other returning cast members for the new series include Jack McMullen as Jamie Phelan, Mike Noble as Banksey, Julie Graham as Elaine Phelan, Laura Aikman as Rachel Duffy, Kevin Harvey as Bobby Duffy, Saoirse-Monica Jackson as Cheryl Crawford, Darci Shaw as Melissa Sullivan, Adam Abbou as Freddie, and Bobby Schofield as Bonehead.

New cast members include Shaun Evans (Until I Kill You, Endeavour) as former gangster Ozzie Thompson, recently out of prison, and Álvaro Morte (Money Heist, Immaculate, The Wheel of Time) as Felipe Guzman.
