A man is running 177 miles (284km) in memory of his son's close friend who died from a heart condition aged 31.

Tom Morgan, 67, from Glastonbury in Somerset, set off to complete the Offa's Dyke National Trail earlier. He is running in memory of Jack Negus who died in 2025.

Jack was planning to walk the trail, which is on the Welsh border near Beachley, but never managed to do it before he passed away.

"He was a wonderful, inspiring young guy who did an awful lot in his life and inspired a lot of people," Morgan said about Negus.

Morgan is carrying a sleeping bag and plans to have 20-minute naps during the challenge, which is expected to last through the weekend.

"Jack was born with a single ventricle heart condition, he basically had half a working heart in layman's terms," Morgan said.

All the money raised from the run will be donated to Little Hearts Matter, which provides support for people with the same condition as Negus.

"It was something really close to Jack's heart, he was passionate about it for obvious reasons. It's something I want to support as well doing it in Jack's memory," Morgan said.
