Bar licence revoked due to disorder concerns

A bar in Derby has had its licence revoked following concerns about disorder at the venue.

Derbyshire Police said The R Lounge in Victoria Street had its licence suspended during an expedited hearing at Derby City Council on 1 May.

It said a full hearing took place on Wednesday and it was decided that the venue would have its licence revoked.

The force said it was investigating reports of a firearms discharge in Becket Well Lane, at the rear of the venue, at about 02:30 BST on Sunday 26 April. It said four men had been charged with firearms offences.

Reuben Branford, 31, of Hawthorn Street, Derby, was charged with affray, conspiring to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of a knife in public.

Haroon Ahmed, 37, of Arnold Street, Derby, and Gary Anwar, 37, of Border Crescent, Alvaston, were charged with conspiring to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Kylan Kelly-Basi, 21, of Charnwood Street, Derby, was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and conspiring to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life.

They are due to appear at Derby Crown Court on Friday.
