Attempted murder arrest after reports of assault

A woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police were called to reports of an assault in Cross Street, Brimington, near Chesterfield, at 10:39 BST on Sunday.

A man in his 30s was located nearby, officers said, and was taken to hospital for treatment, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A woman in her 30s was then arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is still in police custody.

A cordon was put in place at the property involved and investigations are ongoing, officers said.
