Police say the death happened near Eastbourne Terrace in Pontefract

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested after a 16-year-old died after coming off a motorbike.

West Yorkshire Police (WYP) said the 16-year-old boy came off the bike in an alleyway near Eastbourne Terrace, Pontefract, shortly after 17:00 BST on Monday and died at the scene.

The other teenager, who was suspected to have been on the bike at the time of the collision, had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The force said due to prior police contact with the bike before the collision, it had made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
