Train users will face disruption to their journeys in Berkshire and Wiltshire on weekends in June while track maintenance takes place.

Buses will replace trains between Reading and Newbury or Bedwyn on the weekends of 6/7 and 13/14 June.

Network Rail said it needed to replace the track between Theale and Bedwyn and carry out flood alleviation work on the line.

Great Western Railway (GWR) confirmed that replacement transport would also run between Newbury, Kintbury and Hungerford, as well as between Pewsey and Swindon.

GWR's station manager at Newbury, Tom Butler, said: "We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause but the work planned will help us to maintain our train services in the area for years to come."

He advised travellers to plan ahead before setting out on their journey.
