Firefighters have been tackling a fire in a large barn overnight.

Six crews were sent to the scene off the B480 at Stadhampton in south Oxfordshire after hay bales inside the building went up in flames.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews worked through the night to maintain a firebreak, protecting nearby hay bales and preventing the blaze from spreading to surrounding buildings. They are expected to remain at the scene throughout the day.

The fire service said the fire caused a large smoke plume to drift north-west in the direction of Little Milton about three miles (5km) away. Those living in the area have been advised to keep windows and doors closed.
