Appeal after man fails to return to open prison
Derbyshire PolicePolice have issued an appeal after a convict failed to return to an open prison following his day release.
Edwin Newman is serving a sentence at HMP Sudbury in Derbyshire - a Category D men's open prison - for threats to kill and false imprisonment, Derbyshire Police said.
The force said the 45-year-old left the prison at 11:40 BST on Thursday and failed to return later that day.
Officers said anyone who sees Newman, who was described as being a white with a bald head and stubble, should not approach him, and contact police.
Newman was last seen wearing grey jogging bottoms, a white Ben Sherman T-shirt, a grey Nike jumper and blue Nike trainers, they added.
