Four rescued from refuge box on tidal causeway
RNLI SeahousesFour people have been rescued after getting stuck in a rising tide on a causeway.
Seahouses RNLI was asked by Humber Coastguard at 15:00 BST on Wednesday to help the group, who had become stranded on the Holy Island crossing in Northumberland.
They had got out of their vehicle and into the water to reach the refuge box, where they offered to wait until the tide went out.
But the RNLI said the people were cold and wet and "quickly agreed" to be taken to shore.
In 2025, rescue teams attended multiple call-outs to the causeway, including a family stranded when their car became submerged.
Seahouses RNLI's Ollie Whelan said: "We urge people to err on the side of caution, and if there's water on the causeway please don't attempt to cross."
