Drink-driving arrest after cyclist dies in crash
GoogleA cyclist has died in a collision with a car whose driver has been arrested.
Police were called at 20:16 BST on Wednesday to the A3057 Romsey Road in Southampton.
A man in his 30s, who had cycled on to the road from a footpath, was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said.
A 40-year-old Southampton man, who drove a white Mercedes, remains in custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and being over the alcohol limit.
The car was travelling towards Lordshill Roundabout when it collided with the Allegro electric pedal bike that had emerged from a path leading from Boniface Crescent, Hampshire Police said.
Officers have appealed for witnesses and people with dashcam footage to contact them.
