A man who died following a minor car crash is thought to have suffered a medical episode at the wheel, police have said.

Officers were called to the scene on Ellesmere Road close to the junction with Mount Pleasant Road in Shrewsbury, at about 15:00 BST on Thursday.

The crash involved a single vehicle which experienced minor damage, according to the West Mercia force.

Police confirmed that despite treatment from emergency services at the scene, the motorist died.

"It is believed the man suffered a medical episode while driving," a spokesperson said.
