Somerset County Cricket Club hosted an "incredible night of elite sport" between England and India as home favourite Charlie Dean lifted the IT20 Series trophy, organisers said.

Elsewhere, a man is driving the length of the country in a so-called bubble car, and women who have had breast surgery gathered for a special lingerie photoshoot.

In-spire-ing: The new vicar of St Mary Redcliffe, the Rev Dr Brutus Green, is to climb to the top of the church's iconic spire for charity.

Standing at 274 feet (84m) to the top of the weathervane, St Mary Redcliffe is the second-tallest structure in Bristol and the sixth-tallest parish church in the country.

Delight under the lights: Gloucestershire fans went home smiling from the County Ground in Bristol on Friday night after a comprehensive Vitality Blast T20 victory against local rivals Somerset.

Street art: Bristol artists, Inkie, Jody and Cheo have been commissioned to spray paint one side of a heritage railway carriage, with designs from the 1980s for an up-and-coming short film.

The carriage can be viewed at Bitton Station "for the foreseeable future".

Wiltshire

First ceremonial: King Charles, Captain General of the Royal Regiment of Artillery, visited Larkhill Barracks in Salisbury to visit the newly-formed King's Gurkha Artillery unit. Wearing the uniform of Field Marshal of the British Army, he was given a traditional Nepalese Mala Garland.

Under the hammer: The guitar used by spoof rock band Spinal Tap at the 2007 Wembley Live Earth concert is expected to fetch up to £12,000 at auction in Corsham on Tuesday.

The instrument features a working thermometer and a snow globe containing a figurine of former US vice president Al Gore.

Top trees: Stourhead in Wiltshire has collaborated with artist Luke Adam Hawker on a Drawn to Trees trail and Tree Zodiac exhibition, which runs until 1 November.

The event encourages visitors to slow down, observe and engage more deeply with the natural environment.

New kids on the block: Three maned wolves, which originate from South America, have joined the mixed habitat area at Longleat - in a first for the estate.

Fleur, Arabella and Luna have lived at the park for six months whilst keepers prepared their new home. Their diet consists of vegetables, insects, fish and meat.

Shooting stars: The Taunton Breast Friends descended on Minehead this week for a photoshoot at a lingerie shop for their charity calendar.

The group is made up of women who have had a mastectomy or breast surgery and are looking to empower others.

Feeding time: Local photographer Paul Hurford captured some stunning shots of barn owls feeding their young on the Somerset Levels.

He said he saw two parents feed their five owlets about eight times in the space of 90 minutes.

Vintage: Wynford Jones, 78, will take his KR200 Messerschmitt, or bubble car, from Taunton to Land's End and back for charity.

He's celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Bristol Microcar Club Rally. He's puts pedal to the metal in July.

The so-called bubble cars originated in post-World War Two Britain to provide cheap, fuel-efficient transportation amid raw material shortages and economic austerity.
