Road to be closed overnight for resurfacing
Cumberland CouncilA carriageway will be closed overnight for nearly a week while it is resurfaced.
The A7 north of Longtown, Cumbria, will be shut from 19:00 BST to 06:00 the next morning for six nights from Sunday.
Contractors will carry out the work on behalf of Cumberland Council, which said it was "essential to maintain the condition of the road network".
Access for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be open at all times.
A signed diversion route would be available throughout the closure period, the council said, and people would be stationed at closure points to assist residents and businesses that needed access through the works area.
