The driver of a car towing a caravan on the eastbound carriageway of the A40 has died in a crash, police confirmed.

The incident happened near Wheatley at about 18:00 BST and involved a blue Jaguar X-Type, according to Thames Valley Police.

The force said a man in his 70s, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The A40 was closed in both directions following the crash but has since reopened and police are urging anyone with information to get in touch.
