Residents have been asked to close windows and doors after two small yachts caught fire at Portland Port creating thick smoke.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said it sent four crews to deal with the blaze at about 16:45 BST on Saturday.

"There is a significant amount of smoke in the area so any concerned residents should keep windows and doors closed," a fire service spokesperson said.

Crews from Weymouth, Dorchester and Bridport were called to deal with the incident, the fire service said.
