Documentary honours BBC local radio presenter

A BBC presenter who passed away in May is being remembered in a special documentary.

My Emma Moment is a tribute to presenter Emma Britton who previously hosted the breakfast programmes for both BBC Radio Bristol and Somerset. She was diagnosed with incurable lung cancer in 2025 and died at the age of 52.

The documentary features memories from her loved ones, colleagues and friends and will air at 09:00 and 18:00 BST on BBC Radio Somerset and BBC Radio Bristol.

Executive editor at BBC Radio Somerset and Bristol Gareth Roberts said: "Emma touched so many lives across Somerset and Bristol so we wanted to create a programme that gives people the chance to share their own special memories of her."

In the documentary, Emma's mother Jackie said: "She was just the perfect daughter.

"We had a very good relationship, a very close relationship and I'm very proud of her.

"Whenever it was a birthday, she would listen to what you had said all year about what you needed and she would remember," she said.

"My best times were when we'd been together for a birthday or Mother's Day, pampering in a hotel, in a pub, going somewhere just for us - and it used to be just us."

Emma's husband John, also features in the documentary.

He said the first time he met Emma's parents, he was dressed up as a nun.

"I happened to have a stag do that day," he said.

"As people know, you're usually dressed up in something really stupid [for a stag do] and my set-up that night was a nun."

He said Emma liked to help people.

"She went above and beyond, done stuff she didn't need to do because she was happy to help," John said.

"She was my best mate. She'll be sorely missed by everybody, I'm pretty sure."

Roberts added: "Emma meant so much to so many people, and we hope this programme is a fitting tribute to an extraordinary person."
