Kirkham JFC

Kirkham JFC

By Peter Woods
It was a good week for Kirkham - they remained unbeaten in this weekend's fixtures...

Under 9s:

Poulton Youth 1-1 Kirkham Juniors “A”

Kirkham secured a hard earned point after overcoming everything Poulton and the weather could throw at them. Down to an early goal, Tom G capped a man of the match performance by crossing the ball for Sam T to calmly side foot the ball home for the equaliser. Goalkeeper Brody C made a number of excellent saves as Poulton pressed for their second goal. Todd R and James B were always a threat with Tom on the break.

Poulton Youth 0-1 Kirkham Juniors “B”

Top scorer Conor M finally broke the deadlock with a low shot into the corner of the net. In a game Kirkham dominated from start to finish, a combination of the woodwork and a fine performance by the Poulton keeper kept the score respectable. As the unlucky Tom J and Adam D peppered the goal, man of the match Will H pushed forward for the winner. Charlie B rounded off a fine display with a vicious left foot shot after a fast break.

Under 10s:

Kirkham Juniors 4-1 Poulton Youth “A”

Kirkham led 2-1 at the interval with goals from James P and Josh P. An excellent second half display from the team, with Daniel S in good form, and goals from Russell T and Daniel S gave Kirkham a well-deserved victory.

Kirkham Juniors 1-0 Poulton Youth “B”

The rain poured down throughout this fixture, but both teams battled hard as the spectators huddled under their umbrellas. A first half goal from Callum F was enough for Kirkham, with Bobby B man of the match.

Under 15s:

Lancs FA Youth Cup Quarter Final

Euxton Villa 1-3 Kirkham Juniors - after extra time

Euxton were quicker off the mark and took advantage of the strong wind, a lapse in concentration in defence gave them the lead at half time.

In the 2nd half Kirkham levelled with an excellent free kick from the captain Danny M in the opening mins. Kirkham continued to press the Euxton keeper who made some outstanding saves. The game was level at full time 1-1 and went into extra time.

Ross A finished off the match with 2 excellent goals to send Kirkham into the semi final of the LFA Cup.
