Under 12s: Kirkham Juniors 8-2 St Annes The first part of the game was hard fought but the deadlock was broken on ten minutes, when Ben Pownall fed a ball through to George Hunter who raced towards goal and blasted it past the keeper. George Hunter then squared the ball across for Jack Ward to knock home for 2-0. Jack Gornall headed home to make it 3-0 for Kirkham on 23 minutes, before George Hunter took a cross from Jonny Beatham and hit it home for 4-0. Then Jonny Beatham broke through the defence and ran through to make it 5-0 at half time. 30 seconds from the kick off Jack Gornall took the ball down the wing and lifted it beautifully over the keeper to take the score to 6-0. Jonny Beatham got himself on the scorecard again with less than five minutes of the second half played. Once again he burst clear of the defence and ran at the keeper slotting the ball past him into the corner of the net. St Annes hit back briefly with two quick goals, but with 2 minutes remaining it was once again Ryan Hanlon who ran the length of the pitch and put the ball past the keeper. The game ended in a creditable 8-2 victory to Kirkham to round off the season. Man of the Match: Unpickable, a great team performance. Under 17s: Kirkham Juniors 3-2 Lytham Seniors A draw would be sufficient for Lytham to clinch the second-placed position behind champions-elect Thornton Seniors, and Lytham began the better, putting strong pressure on the Kirkham defence. However, it was Kirkham who took the lead on nine minutes, with a fine individual goal by Walwyn, who cut inside and shot low beyond the Lytham ‘keeper. Nine minutes before half time, the visitors were level after a clever near post flick into the net. The second half began disastrously for Kirkham, with Lytham taking the lead in the first few seconds. On the hour, Ridings made a fine save and a minute later the scores were level when Walwyn finished well from the left of the area. Both sides pressed for the winner, and it was Clarke who scored the decisive goal for Kirkham six minutes from time, volleying home an unstoppable shot from the edge of the area. - The views expressed on this page are those of the contributor and the opinions expressed are not necessarily those of the BBC.
