Salford City defender Will Aimson is free to play in his new club's first league game of the season, following a successful appeal for a wrongful dismissal last weekend.

The 32-year-old was sent off for violent conduct as tensions flared in stoppage time in Salford's Carabao Cup first round defeat to Shrewsbury Town.

But after an appeal against the dismissal by the club, the FA have rescinded the card and given him the green light to play in Salford's opening League Two fixture.

Aimson, who signed on a free transfer in June after two seasons with Wigan, was set for a three-match suspension following the straight red.

But he will now be available when The Ammies kick off their league campaign at Barnet on Saturday.
