Match Reports

Kirkham JFC

Kirkham Juniors

By Peter Woods
It was a mixed week for Kirkham Juniors, writes Peter Woods.

Under 9s:

Squires Gate 2-1 Newton Juniors “A”

The first match could have gone either way - Keelan L came up with some great saves and with strong defence from James T and Jordan T , the first half was goalless. Ollie S worked hard in defence and Jordan P and Josh E bossed the midfield. Substitute Lewis B-W played a good holding role, and a superb goal from James T earned him the the man of the match.

Squires Gate 1-6 Newton Juniors “B”

Newton completely dominated the second game. Some superb one-touch passing between Ben W and James T, and some fantastic breaks by Benedict Le S meant the ball was rarely out of the Squires Gate half. Niall R controlled the defence and Jessika F made her debut at half time and played well in her first game.
Ben W gets man of the match for his 4 great goals, and other goals from Benedict Le S and James T completed the scoring.

Under 10s:

BJFF 4-0 Kirkham Juniors “A”

BJFF scored their first goal after 10 mins, but Kirkham replied with good efforts from Dec C, Callum F and Russ T.
In the second half James L pulled off a number of great saves, but Kirkham continued to attack until poor defending allowed BJFF to snatch two late goals. A hard game, closer than the scoreline suggests.

Man of the Match:

James L for a number of excellent saves.

BJFF 3-0 Kirkham Juniors “B”

BJFF again scored an early goal, but Kirkham fought hard for the remainder of the first half.

BJFF pressure kept Scott W very busy at the back and Nathan J pulled off some fine saves to keep Kirkham in the game. Traffic was one-way with BJFF doing all of the attacking and scoring two more goals, before Nathan saved a late penalty.

Man of the Match:

David P for tireless running with good attacking and defending.

Under 15s:

Fleetwood Gym 2-10 Kirkham Juniors

Craig B put Kirkham in front with an early goal before Ross A, Carl S and Danny F put Kirkham 4-0 up at half time.
More goals in the second half from Craig B, Ross A, Stewartson, Nathan C, Sam Y, Adam C and Jack T made it a very comfortable win for a strong Kirkham side.
