Under 9s:Layton Juniors 1-1 JFC Kirkham “A”After a goalless first half, Ben W gave Kirkham the lead, but a defensive gap allowed Layton to equalize in the dying minutes. After recent poor displays from the team, there were good performances from Jessika F, Andy R and James T. Layton Juniors 1-1 JFC Kirkham “B”Layton led 1-0 at the interval, but Kirkham dominated the game before James H scored the equalizer. Jordan P, Ollie S and Lewis B led the Kirkham attack as they looked for the winner, but it took a magnificent save from Connor T in the last minute to ensure a share of the points. Under 9s:Kirkham Juniors 6-0 Thornton “A”Kirkham ‘A’ dominated the match, in which man of the match Sam M and Liam O gave goalkeeper Brody C a quiet morning. With 2 goals each from Todd R and Tom G, along with James B the Kirkham attack excelled again. An own goal and good finish from Conor M sealed the points. Kirkham Juniors 0-1 Thornton “B”Kirkham ’B’ were unlucky in a close match. Adam D again worked tirelessly up front but couldn’t find his way past a resolute Thornton defence. Despite a number of fine saves, man of the match Giles L was unable to keep out a scrambled goal. Lewis M, Will H, and Tom J drove forward but couldn’t find the equaliser. Under 10s:Thornton 0-3 Kirkham Juniors “A”Russell T gave Kirkham an early lead on a small pitch on a cold and windy Saturday morning. Man of the match, James P and Josh P were in top form at the back, and Jack S doubled Kirkham’s lead before Russell T grabbed his second with the last kick of the game. Thornton 3-2 Kirkham Juniors “B”Thornton scored two quick goals and then a third before half time against a shell-shocked Kirkham side. Kirkham looked more solid in the second half but two goals from man of the match Callum F just weren’t enough, as Kirkham threw everything forward. Under 13s:Kirkham Juniors 2-1 Spirit of YouthKirkham were 1-0 down at the end of a scrappy first half, but two late goals gave Kirkham victory against an unlucky Spirit side. Jonny S scored on his debut and Dougie A grabbed the second. Man of the match Richard P was outstanding in defence. Under 15s:Ramsbottom 3-3 Kirkham Juniors (after extra time – Kirkham won 3-1 on penalties)Two goals from Sam Y and one from Jack C, as Kirkham and Ramsbottom fought for a place in the Quarter Finals of the Lancashire FA Youth Cup. Eighty minutes and extra time couldn’t separate the two teams and the tie went to penalties.
