Billy No Mates meets The Chuckle Brothers!

The Chuckle Brothers were in Southend to launch the panto for Christmas 2008 - yes the year really is going that quickly. They were so excited at the chance to have an audience with two of the funniest men in the world of media - Ray and Tom!

Chuckle Brothers and Chris Crosby

To you, to me, to him!

Chuckle for Christmas

So, The Chuckle Brothers will be in our county this Christmas. They're amazingly popular with the kids, and lots of grown-ups too, and they're nice guys. We met up earlier this week with Paul and Barry, plus Chris Crosby from Any Dream Will Do who's playing Buttons.

Billy no mates

I like to think of myself as a happy little soul. I think I'm usually to be found with a smile on my face, but... I was caught out in a moment of self doubt at Brightlingsea Carnival on Saturday.

Ray, looking forlorn (doesn't happen often)

Poor old Billy No Mates

I went along with Natalie Wood, our Saturday afternoon girl-about-town, to the Carnival where we had a great time and met loads and loads of Planet Ray listeners, including David Newman, who has sent in this photo.

Brightlingsea is a lovely place to go, and I'd suggest you mark the date in your diary for next year's Carnival. You can hear Natalie, a former Apprentice possible, every Saturday afternoon with Graham Bannerman, here on BBC Essex from 2pm.

The 'Boote' House in Felstead

Sarah's Great Grandmother's brother

Australia calling Planet Ray

What a small world it is! Sarah lives in a town called Donald in Australia and came across some earlier 'Where in Essex' clues on the blog, including one for Felsted, which mentioned the Boote House in the village.

"My Great Grandmother, Lucy Fuller, had a brother called Harry Fuller who ran his boot-making business from this very building. What a coincidence, a boot maker in the Boote house, and perhaps I might find some distant relatives."

Ssh, here comes Tom, quick hide...

"I've often been accused of monkeying around and this week I've proved I was more than able to do it with style. A trip to a brand new animation house called Creation Studio in Chelmsford saw me turn into a 'virutal' monkey!

"This monkey is due to appear in a BIG animated feature film in the future so look out for it.

"In a minute me and Ray are about to leave BBC Essex HQ for Mersea Outdoors. Ray's 54th birthday present from the team was a trip to the very muddy adventure course at the activity centre, so tune into next week to find out if he lives or dies.

"Pip Pip."

The story 'wot you write'

From an idea by Roger, another great story - and you can join in too:

The clues for this week

Includes the same colour twice = Greenstead Green
CLEAN ON COAST (anagram) = Clacton-on-Sea
YES HELP (anagram) = Pleshey
The sheep are in the meadow, the cows in the corn. Who's that bloke up there, Where is he and what's he doing? = Horndon-on-the-Hill (Little Boy Blue etc)
There's one in Canada, but theirs is colder and deeper - and has whales = St. Lawrence Bay
