Snowdrops, spring on the way?

Spring, back to school, spelling and where can I park my car?

Welcome to Planet Ray. This week Spring in the air, have you seen the snowdrops? Digging for victory, back to school and car transporters and a very public spelling mistake.

Dig this

Cold it might be, but with the sunshine that we've had this week, spring must surely be on the way, and the weather has prompted me, in my role as allotment man, to wax down my racing fork and start digging for victory.

The snowdrops are already looking good, and the daffodils are almost here - and it's only February!

Ray gives it some serious flower power!

Before long I'll spend all my spare time watering a parched plot of Essex - what an exciting life I lead.

Quiet at the back please

I've been back to school. Youngsters at St.Peter's High School in Burnham have their very own radio station and their studies involve searching for news, interview techniques and putting together a news bulletin.

Future radio stars?

Together with Deborah from the news team here at BBC Essex I spent much of Thursday with these future radio stars. It was great fun - I think the students enjoyed it, and never let anyone tell you that youngsters today have no interest in anything.

How do you sepll that?

Planet Ray listener Pam has captured one of the county's most public spelling mistakes. It's on this road sign at Ongar on the A414.

'Industrail' estate ????

Need a clue? You'll find it near the industrial estate.

You can't park there!

"Hello, Tom here. This week I got to drive something extra special. Did you know that most of the car transporters you see on the road are made right here in Essex?

I popped over to the factory in Gosfield that designs and builds these monsters. Each one can get twelve cars on the back of them and they churn out 200 a year! I managed to parallel park one too, it's easier than it looks!"

Where in Essex, this weeks clues:

Sounds like a former Bond girl - Lt/Gt. Hallingbury (Halle Berry)
A royal sister enters on a horse - Margaret Roding (Rode in)
A passing fad on high ground - Crays Hill
Pay your fee as you search for a soldier - Tolleshunt Major
Does your man have one of these for his shirt? - Matching Tye
