Ray Clark Breakfast Show on the go!

This week the Ray Clark Breakfast Show has been moving around the county using various modes of transport.

Ray Clark Breakfast Show listener Gordon from Colchester likes the idea of 'The Wall of Sweat'. Remember, whenever a guest visits the studio to discuss the 2012 Olympics they're invited to run around the building. Their times are recorded on the studio wall.

Gordon now becomes the official Planet Ray cartoonist.

Remember the new way to pronounce Althorne? (Al rather than All), this according to the new train announcements on the Crouch Valley line.

Althorne, Essex railway station

Althorne station, known then as Althorn

Planet Ray listener Michael has been doing a little research and discovers that at one time Althorne was once a seven lettered word, and had a beautiful little country station building.

Now, a special guest appearance from ace morning newsman Richard Smith...

"Who's gonna drive you home tonight? Steve Ellis in Colchester wants to meet you in the pub, club or restaurant and drive you home in your own car.

Leader of the pack, reporter Richard

"He'll arrive on a tiny scooter which packs up in bags and slots in the boot of the car in minutes. Steve let me sit on his bike and rev the engine. Small, but it sounds pretty powerful.

"Steve says it's a safe and comfortable service which can work out cheaper than taking taxis. He's hoping to roll out 'Scoot in Boot' in other Essex towns."

Major Tom's Report

"Hello, Tom here writing from BBC Essex Towers. My poor little legs are aching this morning after hot footing it around the county.

We decided, just for the heck of it, to have a "Where in Essex" clue bonanza and I ably assisted the good folk of Essex trying to solve them.

"I got a bit wet and I was worried about being arrested for criminal damage after I tied one of the banners too tightly to the railings at Cuckoo Corner and couldn't remove it. Panic not though I managed to get back in one piece complete with all banner paraphernalia.

"So I'm hot to trot for wherever Mr Clark sends me next week. Oh and I've just about recovered from eating the snails and frogs legs too! Bye for now."

Last week's 'Story That You Write' was carried over to this week. That Bridie sounds quite a girl........

Here are this week's 'Where in Essex' clues:

There's one in York, but ours is in a different direction = Southminster
An untidy place for officers = Messing
A herbal river = Basildon (River Don is in Doncaster)
An area of land set aside to write - or maybe shave = Bicknacre

And three clues from Friday:
A river crossing where I might shelter from the wind = Rayleigh Weir
Have you heard the first one yet this spring = Cuckoo Corner
Where the Queen might look for elephants = Victoria Circus
