Tom Cursons scored twice to help Boston United end a five-game winless run in the National League by beating Forest Green 3-1 at The New Lawn.

Cursons put Boston ahead inside the first minute before Jayden Clarke equalised two minutes later. Visiting goalkeeper Louis Chadwick then denied D'Mani Mellor, with Jake Rooney clearing the loose ball off the line, in a breathless start.

Chadwick made another excellent stop to keep out Tate Campbell's effort after a mistake from Nicholas Pozo and Clarke then unleashed a ferocious long-range strike which smashed against the crossbar.

Mellor missed a golden chance early in the second half, heading over from close range, and was made to pay when Cursons restored Boston's lead from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute after he was fouled by Gabriel Kircough.

Lennon Wheeldon turned in Georgie Gent's corner with 15 minutes left to consign Forest Green to a first loss in four.
