Danny Mayor's stunning strike saw AFC Fylde return to winning ways in the National League as they edged out Boston at the Jakemans Community Stadium.

Fylde, who saw their five-game unbeaten run ended by Altrincham last week, registered a fourth successive away victory courtesy of the 35-year-old midfielder, who curled his effort into the far top corner six minutes into the second half – his first goal of the season.

The visitors had made a bright start and Harvey Broad was denied by goalkeeper Louis Chadwick in the opening minutes, but Coasters keeper Zac Jones then saved from Tom Cursons and Jack Holmes before his best arrived just before half-time when he thwarted Gavan Holohan.

After Mayor broke the deadlock, Chadwick foiled Luca Thomas and Broad, with Jones producing superb stops to prevent Cursons and Holohan from equalising for Boston, who finished the game with 10 men after Jake Rooney was sent off for the second time this season.
