Robbie Savage watched Forest Green Rovers concede deep into stoppage-time as they drew a thriller at Sutton United and dropped more points in the National League.

Savage, linked with the vacancy at Peterborough, watched 10-man Rovers storm into a two-goal lead twice at Gander Green Lane despite the 52nd-minute red card of Freddie Sass before they collapsed late on.

Goals by Jayden Clarke, Oliver James Ewing and Kyle McAllister put the visitors 3-1 up, but Charlie Carter reduced the deficit in the 79th minute before Temi Babalola produced a leveller in the third minute of stoppage-time.

With speculation about the future of Savage rife, Rovers started strongly and took the lead after 10 minutes through Clarke, before Ewing grabbed a second at the start of the second half.

Sass received a second yellow card soon after and even though Brandon Njoku pulled one back for Sutton, McAllister appeared to have made the points safe when he got into the area and fired home with 17 minutes left.

However, a sweet volley by Carter set up a grandstand finish and Babalola headed home late on to extend Rovers' winless run under Savage to three games.
