Boreham Wood stretched their lead at the top of the National League to six points with a comfortable win at struggling Solihull Moors.

Ben Whitfield opened the scoring with a clinical finish in the 43rd minute, firing a low shot in at the near post after being flicked through by Zak Brunt.

Whitfield completed his double two minutes into the second half but was denied a chance of a hat-trick – and a fifth goal in three games – when his 67th minute penalty was saved by the trailing leg of goalkeeper Max Metcalfe.

On-loan Salford striker Bird completed the scoring in the 76th minute, calmly finishing into the far corner of Metcalfe's net.
