Southend's five-match unbeaten run in the National League came to an end with a chastening defeat at home to Barrow.

Rekeem Harper gave the visitors a 52nd-minute lead when he collected a flick-on and finished from close range for his second goal in as many games.

Seb Thompson, who hit the crossbar in the first half, made it 2-0 in the 66th minute with a deflected effort from outside the area.

Ryan Colclough got Southend back into the game when he won and then converted a 75th-minute penalty, but Darren Oldaker steered the ball into his own goal with six minutes left to restore Barrow's two-goal cushion

Early in eight minutes of added time, Leon Chambers-Parillon restored hope for the hosts when he scored following a corner, but former Southend forward Dan Mooney struck a fine individual effort at the other end as Barrow clinched back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
