Jordan Young scored one goal and provided another as Worthing closed in on the National League play-off places by beating Halifax for a third straight win.

Centre-back Joe Cook headed Young's corner past True Grant after only seven minutes of play at Woodside Road, but Halifax got back on level terms again in the 16th minute as Will Hugill rifled home from inside the box.

Worthing restored their lead six minutes before half-time as Young tucked the ball away after Cory Adjetey-Brew had a dig and Razzaq Coleman De-Graft's overhead-kick attempt to make it 3-1 after the hour mark would have been a goal of the season contender had it gone in.

Any hopes of a Halifax fightback were extinguished when Dylan Crowe was sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity late on.
