Judge kick out hospital request wey no want make dem crosscheck wetin kpai Chimamanda Adichie pikin

Lagos State High Court on Monday bin cancel Euracare Multi-Specialist Hospital application wey dey request to stop di coroner examination into di death of Chimamanda Adichie pikin, Nkanu Esege.

Di hospital bin argue say since dem cremate di deadibodi e mean say di coroner no fit really do di inquest and dat di order go against right to fair hearing.

But Justice Aishat Opesanwo troway di application say di inquest na wetin law make compulsory and say di bodi no necessary for di coroner decision to continue di inquiry.

Na afta Nkanu bin kpai on 7 January 2026 afta medical procedures na im dem begin investigate to know wetin kpai am.

Di hospital bin also tok against di coroner decision to collect statements and evidence from medical personnel and oda parties wey dey connected to wia dem treat di pikin bifor im kpai.

But di judge tok say, "di provision no allow room for exercise of discretion for di decision to do inquest once e land say death come from any of di nine situations".

For her ruling, Justice Opesanwo say under Section 15(2) of di Lagos State Coroner System Law 2007, e dey compulsory to do inquest wen death happun inside medical facilty.
