Snow fun and new tricksRay Clark The heaviest snowfall in Essex for nearly 20 years brought chaos to our county this week, but we survived and live on to tell the tale. The Ray Clark Breakfast Show went into 'Snow Mode' as the week started all white - and got progressively worse! Now where did I leave my car?So did you scrape inches of snow from your car, or did you leave it where it was with a view to digging it out later? Ray Clark Breakfast Show producer, Claire Sawyer, decided the BBC Essex car park was the best place for her little motor - but one naughty work colleague decided to decorate it! We also heard from Planet Ray listener, Saul from Coggeshall, who parked his car at the station, struggled to work, but then stayed 'up in town.' ![]() He's not as old as he looks - honest! He wasn't best pleased to find a parking ticket on his screen when he returned home the following day. However, common sense came to the rescue and after we mentioned Saul's plight, the car park company said they would reconsider individual cases. New Tricks or Dirty Tricks? My favourite thick winter coat has made an appearance because of the weather - I usually keep it for best! However 'my friends' on Planet Ray have remarked on the similarity between me in winter wear and actor Alun Armstrong's character in New Tricks, Brian Lane. My wife even thinks I act like him - and she's told me that just days before Valentine's Day. I might buy her flowers!!
![]() Complete with Water Boots! Back to my RootsI grew up with Dad working on the farm, I loved it, and as a child dreamed of driving a tractor or feeding the animals. Then, when I was a little older, I dreamed of working on the radio. This week, farms and radio came together when I visited The Doe Show at Ulting, near Maldon. I went complete with my water boots, although most people call them wellingtons - how strange! Thousands visit this free agricultural show every February and I'm hoping that maybe the Ray Clark Breakfast Show team can go along when the weather improves to test-drive a combine harvester. The thought of Claire or Alison getting behind the wheel of one of those is very scary! It does look pretty thoughWe were all affected in some way by the snow: Cold, wet, delayed - but it is good for nice photographs. ![]() Who used the phone box last? The story 'wot you write'Helen came up with a brilliant five day story, which we had to squeeze into three parts this week. What about you writing a story for next week?
