Planet Ray

Off the cuff

Can anyone explain why shirts are still made without buttons on the cuffs? And why is it when you're in a rush, the one shirt you can find needs cufflinks? And where on Planet Ray are they? The Ray Clark Breakfast Show tackles these tough questions.

Ray - searching for cuff-links

I don't think I'm meant to dress smartly

What use are cufflinks?

I've been thinking about those small items we gents all have, but can never find when we need them. I'm talking cufflinks here, but do we really need them?

Earlier this week I was invited to St. Peter's School in Burnham for a careers day. After much debate, Planet Ray listeners felt that, as an interviewer, I should wear a tie - so under the circumstances a white shirt could be in order.

Rays cat - Benny (The Slob)

Is he copying Ray?

Now this is the problem; best quality white shirt from the back of the wardrobe, no buttons on the cuffs - and where did I put those cufflinks?

Got anymore daft inventions? There must be similar concerns for 'ladies things'.

But, after the frustration of searching for the things, what really hurt was one of our cats, 'Benny the Slob', making fun of my extra long sleeves!

Cold as Ice

Our 'Girl About the County', Natalie, had an unusual breakfast during the week after visiting the Brightlingsea finalists in the 'Best fish and chip shop' competition.

Despite it taking her over an hour to get back to our Chelmsford studio, we also enjoyed fish and chips back at base. And do you know what? Although they were no longer hot, those fish and chips tasted great at 10am.

Nats has also been to Basildon for a preview of the winter ice rink that's appeared at The Festival Leisure Park. It'll certainly bring a winter feel to the county as we hurtle towards Christmas - there's no stopping us now.

The story 'wot you write'

Great story this week, sent in by Jean. The Story Lady helped out and Helen and Debbie also joined in.

Will you write a story for our 'Breakfast Serial'?
