Kirkham Round-Up

By Peter Woods
News on how Kirkham U12s, U14s and the U17s fared in this week's matches.

Under 12s:
Kirkham Juniors 7-1 Lytham Juniors

It took Kirkham just four minutes to get the opening goal with George Hunter’s shot beating the keeper and then 40 seconds later he rounded the keeper to make it 2-0. On 25 minutes, Dougie Allan blasted the ball into the top corner to make it 3-0.

The second half started with Kirkham again in control and with only 3 minutes gone it was Jack Ward who drove the ball home to make it 4-0 to Kirkham.

Lytham pulled a goal back, but with only five minutes remaining Tom Cookson made it 5-1, Ryan Hanlon scored a sixth and Dougie Allan a seventh in the last minute.

Man of the Match:

Kyle McManamy, once again excellent in goal.

Under 14s:
Kirkham Juniors 4-0 Lytham Juniors

Kirkham totally dominated both halves of this derby match at Coronation Road. Craig Burke got them off to a good start with a header from a quality corner from Danny Fuller, Sam Yates made it 2-0 with another header from a Fuller corner.

In the second half Sam Yates scored his second with a long range shot on target and Craig Burke again finished off a Fuller corner with a superb header.

This result meant that Kirkham finished in third place in the League and rounds off another excellent season for the Squad.

Under 17s:
Wyre Juniors 0-3 Kirkham Juniors

After pressure from Kirkham, the breakthrough finally arrived on eight minutes, Tim Forshaw cleverly chipping the 'keeper to open the scoring. The goal seemed to inspire Wyre, and for the remainder of the half they dominated play.

Kirkham made a bright start to the second half, but Wyre fell victim of a sucker punch on forty-seven minutes, Forshaw racing clear and once again chipping the advancing 'keeper.

That second goal took the sting out of the game, and the final goal came four minutes from time, Dodd pushing the ball through to Clarke, who calmly slipped the ball under the Wyre 'keeper.
