Writing about family
BRYAN - Nadine, for you, is it easier to write about family, and your own family, than it is to to simply make up characters and other relationships?
NADINE - I think because I do both, I think that each has its own place in my heart and in my work. And so it’s not, it’s not necessarily easier because in the sense for me, it’s really important that if you are, if you are writing about your relationship with real people, that you do that ethically as well, you know, and that you you talk to them about that. But also, I think when you’re you’re writing fictional characters, we, there is that freedom again of of the characters that you’re going to create. And for me, in terms of the values of my life around family and the principles, I’m a big believer in found family, you know, like my best pal, I call her my sister because we we are so close. And you can you can bring all of that into your work, whether it’s about those real relationships or whether it’s you want to write books with, with families that exist in multiple ways, you can you can do that.
