Celtic's Hannah Luke's corner was turned into the Glasgow City net by goalkeeper Lee Gibson

Celtic started their new SWPL season with a narrow victory over city rivals Glasgow City at Petershill Park.

After disappointing SWPL campaigns last season, both Glasgow City and Celtic would have been eager to get off to a good start on the opening weekend of this new season.

The home side showed their early intent taking the lead after ten minutes through Lisa Forrest.

Celtic grew into the game and Hannah Luke's corner wasn't dealt with by City goalkeeper Lee Gibson who bundled the ball into the back of her own net.

Gibson was beaten again five minutes before the break, this time by summer signing Fi Morgan whose brave header from Celtic's corner put her side back in front, where they stayed for the rest of the game.
