Southend continued their strong run of form with a thumping victory over Halifax.

The Shrimpers made it five wins from their last six National League games as they build up to the play-offs.

It took them only six minutes to take the lead, with Oli Coker's long-range effort finding the bottom corner, but Halifax levelled 13 minutes later through Will Harris.

Andy Dallas picked himself up after being fouled in the box to restore Southend's lead from the penalty spot in the 31st minute before setting up Harry Cardwell three minutes before the break.

Coker made it four with a thumping finish in the 52nd minute and Gus Scott-Morriss added a fifth before the hour mark.

Halifax twice had goals disallowed before Kieron Morris did pull one back but Southend had the final say as Leon Chambers-Parillon struck deep into injury time.
