Appeal court set aside judgment wey allow Muslim students to wear hijab for schools

Di Court of Appeal for Ibadan don set aside one di High Court judgment wey permit female Muslim students make dem dey wear hijab for University of Ibadan International School, ISI.
Justice Biobele Georgewill wey deliver di judgement on Friday wit Justice K.I. Amadi agree, to overturn di high court judgement.
Di case bin start for 2018 wen ISI ban female Muslim students make no dey wear headscarf wit dia uniform.
Eleven students, wit support from Muslim Rights Concern, sue di school and di University of Ibadan for Oyo State High Court ova di alleged infringement of dia human rights.
On 22 May 2024, di High Court rule in favor of di students.
Justice Moshood Ishola tok say ISI na public institution and di ban dey violate di students' rights to freedom of religion and freedom from discrimination under di Nigerian Constitution.

Justice Georgewill add say di Supreme Court decision go dey applied to hijab for only public schools for Lagos State, e no dey apply to private schools.

"For public schools, you fit wear hijab on top school uniform base on di Supreme Court judgment, but di Supreme Court neva make any decision on di use of hijab for private schools," e rule.
Justice Fadawu Umar, in di minority judgment, still dey support High Court decision.
