Celebrity Football

A bunch of hardy comics got together for a kickabout - Steve has the pics...

Hot, breathless and sweaty as I write this, a result of the comics versus critics football match that Fest newspaper organised on Saturday. Not that I played, I just got in that state walking the full length of the Royal Mile to Holyrood Palace to get to the pitch. I have no idea how long that Royal Mile is, but is must be at least four miles.

So, I'm clearly in no physical condition to play. Not to mention the fact that I'd rather not risk a shattered ankle in revenge for a two-star review I may have doled out in the past. A number of the comics seemed rather too keen for me to be on the opposing team for my liking.

At full time, it was 1-1, the perfect score for a friendly. But this was no friendly, a victor had to be found. So to chants along the lines of "Write for a pamphlet, you only write for a pamplet" the match went to penalties.

And the score there, 3-2 to the comics, thanks to a miss by one of the hacks.
